And today Harris County Commissioners Court approved an August 25th bond election for $2.5billion with most used for match money. Ultimately, $12billion in flood control projects......this will be huge for the region. So, don’t be so focused on flood concerns as the HCFCD projects will be ahead of the I-45 initiative.

This is how Texas does it folks.

The area near Minute Maid and GRB is fricked with traffic in broad daylight. Don't need artificial tunnel lighting compounding it.

I’ll guess I’ll just have to take your world for it over my experience.

All this just to get rid of the homeless that camp out under 59 and 45 in downtown and midtown.

The one here has a park they built on top of it a few years ago. It’s pretty awesome.

Boston did that with the land created by the big dig a decade ago.

It’s a cool idea to get rid of the wasted space. It’d be awesome next to Minute Maid right there.

What exactly is the point of that shite?...you basically end up with unusable land on top and a freeway that is more prone to flooding...

You put a freeway on top and then you have a bypass and double the lanes on the same piece of real estate.

Clearly it worked.

Don’t be so sensitive, Houston is a great city.

That doesn’t appear to be what they’re doing though.

Then you put a park on top with bike trails. Regardless, you are getting an additional usage out of the same land area.

And it helps development in those areas because it removes a significant division between parts of downtown/midtown that’s been an eyesore and harbor for homeless/vagrants for years.
