I saw this story on the local news this morning and thought I was taking crazy pills. Essentially, a dog bites a small child in the face, and a week later we are still trying to figure out if the dog should be killed. It’s getting its own doggie trial from what I can tell. That dog should have been tested for rabies and shot the same day. LINK

I don’t think you can test for rabies like that. Doesn’t matter, dog should be killed.

I thought bites to the face were auto kill.

Pop a cap in the mutt, don't tell the child.

Pibbles actually has his own attorney if you read the article. I have a hard to justifying any situation where a dog bites a child in the face.

It's worse than it appears because apparently, this has happened before with this dog.

quote:

"In general, the (victim's) family is against euthanization," said family spokesperson and service dog advocate Kaydin Downey. "But this dog has had previous bite cases before, and (the dog's owner) has continued to put a service dog vest on it and continued, not to just take it on walks unmuzzled, but to take it in mass groups of people like restaurants and stores. So regardless of its history, she's not taking preventative action to protect the public, and so, in this case, the family does want the dog euthanized for the safety of the community."

The owner should be charged as well.

Yeah, me too. That’s why I was so confused by the whole thing. Just shoot the dog.

The fricking mutt should be fertilizer already but yet here we are putting the value of a dog's life over a human.

Owner appears to be a complete POS. This video shows the owner fleeing the scene right after the attack with the kid’s dad chasing after. LINK

Can’t imagine. If my little spaniel or beagle mix were to bite anyone, especially a kid, you’re gonna have win a foot race to beat me to my back yard to shoot it in the head. No excuse for a dog that was trained right to ever bite someone.

Same here. But I’m not one of those people who thinks a dog is the same a person. If one of my dogs ever attacks someone, especially a child, that’s my dog’s last day on this earth.

Agreed. I can’t understand wanting a dog to live after biting a child on the face??? WTF??

Same. I love my dog but if she bit a kid, especially in the face, I would no longer own a dog by the time the cops showed up.

You’re right. They’re not the same as a person, they’re better.

I wonder why this lady needs a service dog? Especially a pit mix... probably a fraud, a few of these service dog people are attention whores.
