I wrote Stacy’s Song as a sequel to Fountains Of Wayne’s, Stacy’s Mom. I’ve been a fan of the band FOW for a long time and I especially appreciate their clever approach to both lyrics and musical hooks. Around the time I was recording Stacy’s Song, a friend of mine put a video of me playing drums in the studio on his FB page. One of the people that saw the video and commented was Jody Porter.

Jody Porter is the guitar player for Fountains Of Wayne so I quickly reached out to him to explain I had written a song that was a tribute of sorts to the band and more specifically, a sequel about a grown up Stacy from the Stacy’s Mom video. Jody was intrigued and eventually he even played guitar on my song. That’s Jody Porter plying in the solo section while I watch a Fountains Of Wayne video :)
