Senior care is scary and unpredictable. I’m sorry you’re dealing with the bad apples. Even money does not reliably buy you good care. I’m sure millions could buy you good care, but the typical comfortable retirement and smart saving does not guarantee it. There’s not enough reliable help on the market for the price these facilities want to employ people at.

Sorry you are going through this

We have found that a nursing home / hospice care is only good for certain things (changing diapers & the like)
You cannot let them slide even a little bit
You almost have to get a pen & write the date & time on the diaper to make sure their basic needs are being taken care of
Show up at different times, don’t let them know your visiting routine

You have to watch what they bill, for those that don’t have family watching they will put a comatose person in a wheelchair & sit them in the rehab room & charge for PT

Once hospice became involved things somewhat improved because we went through the hospice nurse & they actually give a shite
But again, basic needs are handled by someone not getting paid nearly enough to care

It’s been almost 3 years since I lost my grandmother & as you can tell I am still bitter about the care she recieved at the end of her life

Document every little thing especially the fact that she fell & you were not notified
Contact the onsite social worker or head nurse regularly
Contact the administrator with your complaints

Again, I am so sorry you are going through this, I will keep you & your family in my prayers
