Well, anyone with even a basic knowledge of the 1st amendment knew it was a violation, and so did John Bel. He’s not stupid. He’s just unprincipled and like all tyrants, the Constitution is something that is in their way, not something to guide the office you’ve been entrusted with.

I realize nuance and any idea of middle ground went out the window on this website years ago but Spell and Edwards can both be scumbags.
I can recognize that covid overreactions were absolute bullshite but also holding large services full of the elderly likely wasn’t the best idea at the time. He wasn’t there to preach or help people hear the word of God, he was there to get attention and money much like his counterpart in Edwards.
