It’s very clear by looking at the address this is the definition of the heart of old Metairie.

Not even up for discussion

During the Ida thread I remember there was a ton of us from Metairie.

I think we’re well represented on here.

Time for an IRL, OM meetup! Tiger Attorney probably has the largest pad. Aren't you near MCC?

There was a time when a bunch of houses in JP started having gas leaks from pipes breaking due to settlement. (I guess building on swamp without piling wasn’t such a good idea after all).

Was Big Lee’s residence considered being in Old Metairie?

I just thought one would reference his residence geographic description as “Bonnabel”? Is Giorlando’s restaurant also Old Metairie?

My brain is in a pretzel until I get clarity on this one and unable to discuss the OP.

The FB group for this area is mostly filled with angry ignorant old timers bitching constantly over and over about the Bonnabel walking path that is under construction.

OK but for real though this is stupid because there are constant crossovers on Bonnabel and inevitably is going to lead to vehicle/pedestrian accidents. And it sucks when running to have to stop every block to check for cars. AND there's an incredible walking/running/biking path right at the end of Bonnabel, which is vastly superior to the one currently under construction.

Meh maybe.
I get that there is a debate about if it is a good idea or not. That ship sailed a year or two ago. It's being built so no need for many of these same people to whine about it everyday.

Some complain about a waste of tax dollars and they didn't get a vote. It's a federal grant. If JP didn't use this money for something like this, it would just be spend somewhere else.

Some say nobody will use this path. Then others say it will be so used it's going to cause traffic jams at Vets and Bonnabel. The excuse about it's going to kill all the tree root systems is lame as well. And so is the idea that this will cause flooding.

When Veterans was being re-surfaced recently a few nimrods posted that the road didn't seem very smooth and that they weren't happy with the project. This was after the stripping step was done and before the top layer was done.

When the lights and lanes were re-done at Vets and Bonnabel some were bitching that this was a bad idea. It would make things worse and cause a mess.

When the boardwalk was built at the Bucktown Marsh, some were upset because it was going to bring the criminal element to the area.

I could go on and on.
And I want that Paul Amis guy to have his internet service line cut by a construction crew. He's too stupid to reason with.

He is the worst. There’s a few on there that are insufferable.

Buster is the clown representing Old Metairie Happenings. He’s not always all that bad, but he does seem to have a lot of free time on his hands.
