Home Warranties can save you some money if your stuff is getting old and might possibly need replacing soon...But they can also be a pain in the arse by having to deal with their customer service idiots and having to use the warranty companies service providers, who are normally not that great.
I no longer have a home warranty because a lot of my stuff has been replaced using the warranty, AC, Heater, Built-in Microwave, some plumbing issues that would have cost me a fortune and a few other things. It was a battle for me dealing with AHS, but I was persistent and I won.

I have one through AHS. Used a couple times for minor AC repairs. Biggest uses have been replacing a water heater. I paid about $300 out of pocket to cover some upgrades that had to be done to bring up to current code. Then had the upstairs blower/furnace go out. They replaced the unit and paid for install, but I had to again cover some upgrades needed to bring inline with code. Vents, gas lines, etc. Cost me about $1000 out of pocket on that one.

Mine came with the house. Sellers paid for 2 years of it. Saved my arse a couple of times. As an example, I got a new water heater put in last year for $30.
Eta: Between 10 and 15 years, your appliances are gonna start failing because they are generally all a POS now

A home warranty (American Home Shield) was included in the sale when I purchased my house. I tried to use them twice, neither resulted in the problem being fixed, and I paid the $75 fee for someone to show up each time. One of the repair companies they sent was super sketchy. I did not renew.
That's on you. We had that issue with a pool pump that's included in our coverage. After the 3rd time they sent the guy out and he still couldn't figure it out I had a 5 minute conversation with AHS and they replaced the entire pump with the newer model. All that was out of my pocket was $75. The new pump was over $400. I'm not saying you don't have to stay on their arse but we've definitely got our monies worth from ours. We've replaced a water heater, dishwasher, dryer, built in double oven, multiple plumbing repairs, etc. Each time it's only cost us $75.

Same. Except I called them many times for the same problem - an exterior tankless hot water heater. They never fixed it. They flushed it out to where it would work right then, but break again as soon as temps got below freezing. Our AC went out and they sent over some guy who was old enough to remember when AC was a pipe dream (he did not fix it).
I thought it would be nice to have for the first year of home ownership to protect me from big repair bills that crop up, but it really didn't at all.
Also read your plan: they didn't cover my washing machine.

Waste of money. They send the worst contractors out, you have to pay a big service fee for them to come, they take forever to show up or just don't at all, and then they find one of a million ticky-tack fine print reasons to avoid fixing anything, and if they do, it's with the cheapest part.

I have had the complete opposite experience of you

When we brought out first house seven years ago, the seller provided one. It was well worth it. I have renewed it every year.
It was with American Home Shield. Some years I don't think I had to call them once, and then some years I more than got my money's worth.
Relatively speaking, it is about 500 dollars a year and I have never regretted spending that money. I cannot speak for every other company, but I have loved American Home Shield.

Just purchased a home and some people are telling me to get a home warranty and others are telling me not to. What do you all think? Thanks.
The house is 11 years old.
As long as you buy one from a reputable company, they're worth it. I've had mine for several years and used it on A/C repairs and to replace our dish washer.
One of the main things I like is that I've got two A/C units for my house, one for the upstairs and the other for the downstairs. If one of them totally craps out it would cost me like $5,000 - $6,000 out of pocket. With my home warranty, it will cost me $45.
