No, it's because when they are cut green they are 2x4. Once they're dried they shrink. It's like a burger being called a quarterpounder: it's .25lbs before it's cooked.

IT'S CALLED A NOMINAL MEASUREMENT. They don't hide that fact and anyone who has any experience working with lumber or building materials knows that. People are fricking dumb.

This really does deserve a Darwin Award



How can anyone be this stupid and ill informed in the year 2017, especially with the internet at your finger tips, even if you don't know that a 2x4 isn't 2"x4" like anyone else with even a very minimum amount of knowledge of building materials should.
