Is it hard for travel ball coaches to get uniforms in their size? Or do they allow one or two XL unis to go along with the bulk S/M order?
There are size 44 cargo jorts in abundance all over. It's finding a jughead sized flat bill that's the problem.

I assume they have to go high cuffed to accommodate the Red Wings, right?

My son has played select/travel ball since he was 8. I feel that he gets the best exposure to competition in this league than in rec ball. We spent a lot of time at the cages (at his request) working on making him a better player. He has a burning desire to be the best player he can be...what parent wouldnt support this in their child? Even if he does not make it very far in this sport, he gives it 110% and that makes me proud. He is 12 now and this determination has made him the best player on his team every year. He plays on a Major/Premier level team and he continues to progress and do things that I was not doing at 14-15, much less at 12. He is 6ft 185lbs though. He throws 75mph and has a big bat. He hit 15HRs in 8U coach pitch, 19 in 9U kid pitch, 22 as 10U and 20 last year. He has 10 already this spring season.
I do not feel he would get the same experience in rec ball. But I do agree that some parents take this way too seriously and think their kid will make the MLB as 13yr old...but we try to avoid those parents. This is my son in the past couple tournaments...(yes, I know I am opening up myself for attack but that is fine. I am proud of my son and what he has accomplished. He wants to play baseball at LSU on day.)

My plays in Houston. There are a few travel teams in the Baton Rouge area. Go to nations and usssa websites and do a state search.

damn, that is kid is 12 years old?

Yeah...he's a beast. I know most parents embellish their child's abilities, but I do not have to. He just turned 12 a couple months ago. His pitching coach has a World Series ring with the Atlanta Braves (Pedro Borbon) and he says of all his students, mine has the most potential to make it in this sport...so I do whatever it takes to help him achieve his goals.

You don't embellish in your child's abilities, yet you have been keeping up with how many HR's he's hit since 8U coach's pitch?

I can see the point you are making, but if I was embellishing, I would be exaggerating...which I am not. Bragging? Maybe...but I am proud of him and felt the need to brag. I'm sorry if this offended you.

Do you have kids?
why WOULDNT he keep his sons stats?

LoL...the only performance enhancement my son uses is practice and determination. And the insinuation is insulting. But, I will assume that this was in jest.

I have 2 and coach them both. I couldn't tell you how many HRs either one of them has hit. I could care less. I haven't seen a college scout at an 8U baseball game yet. If at the end of the night I can tuck them into bed and tell them I love them, we've all 3 won. What happens with their future will happen no matter what their stats were in 2nd grade.

Truth.
Do you just love when you see a family in matching travel baseball gear with stickers on their cars and stuff love it.

I see your point and do not disagree. And it isnt about college scouts...it's about a proud dad bragging on his kid. And the reason I know his HR totals is because he has a trophy case with his HR balls from each year. I am sure that when he gets to high school and beyond, my excitement about his success will change into your outlook...until then, I am going to enjoy bragging on my little dude.
