Give us a funny "why isnt billy playing more" story
Those are usually not funny as they involved an irate mom. A good example happened back in the 9&10 year old level. We were in the league championship game and had subbed out our starting pitcher and brought in a kid off the bench. He was not a pitcher though so we sent him to the outfield and brought up a kid from the outfield who could pitch. One key detail here is that we were now out of pitching other than the kid we just put on the mound and the one who had started. All the other kids on our team who could pitch were already out of their legal limit on innings pitched. Well the first pitch from this new kid was hit right back at him, he threw up his arm and the ball hit him square on the forearm *snap*. He's hurt and he's done. Literally one pitch after we brought him in from the outfield. Well the only kid we could put on the mound was the starter we'd just pull. By the rules only the starter can go back to the mound and on top of that we had no other pitchers left. Well the rules also state that when a starter returns to a game, his sub has to come out of the game. This means the kid who had been on the bench and came in for the starter had to come back out after he saw the field for only one pitch. His mom was ready to explode and wanted to kill us all.
Thankfully for me, I was an assistant that year and when she came up to me to rant and rave, all I had to do was point to the HC and tell her, to go talk to him as it was his call (Albeit the only call he could make)

Still surprised Orange Bowl and Rose bowl champs get rings. It should be for national championships only. The rings look about the same, make having a ring a special thing.

That's a funny deflection on your part. Ask the head coach, his call

Hell, being able to point to the HC in situations like that is the best part of being an assistant. In fact, I always preferred to be an assistant to the HC (or manager as they're called by Dizzy Dean). That way I could focus on the two areas I know the most about, working with outfielders (a neglected position in little league) and batting. I was HC 4 years and assistant 4 years. I'm back to HC this year but it's just t-ball.

How do you find the time?

Sounds like parents are a little too emotionally involved in their child's athletics. Growing up parents never questioned a coach as to why their child wasn't playing. The only time I noticed that was when I got to high school.

You SHOULD be involved as a parent. It's your kid after all.

Thankfully I'm not having to serve on the league board this year, but the past couple years I was selected to serve on the board. All complaints on coaches were to be put into writing and submitted to us to deal with. The overwhelming majority of complaints was due to little Johnnie not playing enough.
One example I remember was a mom & dad who sent in a complaint on their coach (9&10 level if I remember right) about their kid not even getting into most games. Turns out the coach was smart and held his official score book from the season. The book showed that little Johnny missed a number of games but for those his parents bothered to bring him too, little Johnny played more innings than he sat, including playing more innings in the games where he showed up than the coach's own kid.

not easy but I do it anyway. Do you do anything constructive for your community?

There's a difference in being involved and thinking your son is the next Mickey Mantle.
Growing up, granted it was in Mexico, the coaches played the best 9 guys they had. Every once in a while a kid who didn't play would get an at-bat or an inning in the field, but that was it. Some kids would finish the season with less than 10 plate appearances.

I think my son may play ball past high school and he is 6.
Hit me with your best shot.

At the little league level, that's not what baseball is about... At least it should not be.

It's weird how stuff can skip a generation sometimes. My dad pitched in college. I never played past tball.

Is it hard for travel ball coaches to get uniforms in their size? Or do they allow one or two XL unis to go along with the bulk S/M order?
