Don't know why I was thinking about this, but do any of you know anyone that went there? If so, what was it like? It was that little school behind Lafreniere Park off of Downs Blvd. It closed and got torn down a few years back. I heard it was an absolute joke. A "Pay your fee, get a degree" sort of place.

Yes, a friend growing up that had been kicked out of a bunch of schools finally went there as his last resort and "graduated".

And it was true. It was just for the absolute frickups of the world to get a diploma. They did literally nothing.

Seems like a solid business model for a private school.

Desperate parents that don't want their kid stuck with a GED pay for a diploma while the school puts in zero effort or investment. Low overhead.

Nah. She is really smart and very good at her job. Just was a wild child. You don't want pics.

Yep, same as the guy I knew who graduated from there... Good guy from a good family, just a complete a-hole back in the day. He even admits it...

I think most the the kids that attended it were in the same boat...

Back in the day when I was in high school, I worked with a girl at a supermarket who went to school there. She came into work right before Mardi Gras with a list of nights she couldn’t work. She explained that she was short a credit and couldn’t graduate unless she walked in the Metairie parades.
So this girl got academic credits from walking in parades and was allowed to graduate.

It was a private school for kids kicked out of every other school to get a HS diploma and not have to mix with public school poors.

The guy who owned/ran it used to own/run Prytannia Academy in Gentilly in the late 1960’s to the late 1970’s til he got in trouble for inappropriate behavior with students.

So he just moved to Metairie and opened up a new school?

Heritage Academy is proof that just because a school is private, doesn't make it better than a public.

Too bad they couldn't hold out long enough to be around for the voucher program. They would have made a killing...
