Depends.
Alcohol works better if you really need medical reasons.
In fact, alcohol works too good, which is the issue.

Now do alcohol.
Whataboutism. You also can't drink alcohol or be under the influence if you work in any of these professions either. So no gotcha' here.

Yes
I haven't drank since 2016.
Had three surgeries during that time. Twice got an RX for probably 16 5 mg Norcos.. Once, they gave me Tramadol. Had no issues

I agree that some jobs require sobriety. However, i think having drug testing at all jobs keeps a lot of would-be good employees from being, well, employed. Workforce participation is lower for men than it has ever been. More and more people are dropping out of the workforce. That’s bad for all of us. It’s one thing to be drunk or high at work, but firing or not hiring people based on what they do away from work might be increasing the number of welfare recipients, criminals, and panhandlers.

Reminds me of a guy I was behind on the docket and had to sit there and listen to this assholes story to the judge....
Dude gets high on weed. Crashes into gas pump. Flees. Circles back around, ignites the gas on the ground on trip #2 through the pump. Backs it up and runs over lady. Panics, drives through the flames; now at least one tire is on fire. Pulls into sonic next door as his "safe harbor". Sends everybody there fleeing. Jumps out of car to flee on foot. Doesn't even bother to put car in park. It slowly rolls down slight incline eventually setting the playground set on fire across from drive through. On foot runs to apartment, which is right behind the convenience store he set on fire. Cops find him easily.
So as judge is laying out all this facts for a plea his only response is "but judge, weed is legal now... I did nothing wrong".
Judge plead not guilty for him and it's going to trial so they can throw the book at this dumbass.

I think that we have said over and over on this thread that this has nothing to do with being intoxicated on the job. This is about failing a drug test over something you did days ago that is legal. We have also discussed the different types of testing.
The only thing the hemp bill did was legalize pot for the seller. The user still can't use it because of drug testing. Capitalism at its finest. Sell it and let people profit and let the government collect the tax money.
The amazing thing is that people are so brainwashed that they will support or oppose whatever their party tells them to support or oppose. If Trump passed the bill, then it has to be great. Thats why I support neither party. You would have to be a closed minded dim wit.
