Are the bridges a problem at all?
I'm thinking I'd prefer to stick to somewhere where I don't have to cross a bay.
I'll also be renting for at least a few months, so I'd like somewhere close to the beach.
Bridges are easy. If you don't want to cross one, Pass > Ocean Springs.

The bay bridge is never a issue. You won't hit heavy traffic until you hit the Island Casino area on Hwy 90. You will hit a little bit at Broad Ave where the medical staff turn north to Memorial and after 49 it gets heavy
I love living in the Pass but Long Each is really nice also but the city taxes are very high

I commute from Biloxi to BSL everyday. It's about 35 minutes door to door but there's zero traffic so I have no complaints.

How accurate is that map?
I'm going to be in an apartment to start, so I'm looking at places at least close to the beach.

They have some really nice apartments and condos on the Pass-Long Beach line on the beach on both sides of Walmart. Long Beach has several apartments complexes, Pass doesn't have any you would want to live in

So I'm thinking if I work in the middle of Gulfport and I want a 20-25 minute commute from the beach I should really stick to Biloxi or Long Beach.

I would look in the Pass or even the Bay(what everyone calls Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis). BSL is about a 30 minute drive down Hwy 90, and the quality of living is top notch. Pass would be 10 or so minutes shorter.
ETA: I might have missed it, but how old are you, and what's your family/kid situation? BSL nightlife has really made a strong comeback the last few years if you're young and like to go out. But, if you have family, it's a very good place to raise kids. I would love to move back over there, but I'm not sure it's a good thing for me personally.

Question about Diamondhead. Are there more younger people living there now or do I still have my senior citizen goggles on. My in-laws have lived there over 25 years. I find it to be a bunch of old cranky senior citizens. I could be wrong though. I usually just go to their house and to the "club" to have lunch. I know my in-laws have not been happy since the subdivision became a city. I know there are younger families but just wondering if it is predominately older folks?
Sorry it took so long to respond, but Diamondhead has a lot of younger couples now. After Katrina, a lot of people moved out there. It took a lot from BSL and Waveland, the Bay has made a very strong comeback the last 5-6 years once they allowed people to start building restaurants on the beach, but Waveland is still struggling.
