Need to change ours ... it's wired correctly but the medium speed doesn't work. No idea what brand the ceiling fan is as we purchased this home and have no paperwork on a ceiling fan.

The capacitor in the fan now has 4.5/6/6 and then -25-60C. I cannot find one that is exactly like this online and the two electric supply stores that I've called locally have no clue (wth?). I'm not sure what these numbers mean ... my husband isn't sure ... and the electric stores couldnt' tell me either what to replace this with. Does it have to be the EXACT same?? Love the fan and don't want to replace it if I dont' have to.

(eta it's a 4 wire fan)
Any suggestions on what to buy?? Thanks.

What's that Napoleon?

If I didn't suck at the internet I'd add a pic.

I see your problem. You'll never get back to the future unless it can produce 1.21 gigawatts. The capacitor you're looking for looks like this:

New switch ... husband broke the pull and this all started with replacing that. That got replaced and now we have no medium speed.

eta: I guess it's a new switch he put in ... I'll have him check.

The wiring is fine.

Check the gonkalator shaft for wobble. That's most likely your problem.

I cant find one that matches your specs for a 4 wire fan. There are plenty of 5 wire capacitors that match.

Are you sure its a 4 wire?

If so, it might be easier to find the fan manufactureer and call them.

Is it a flux capacitor, or a left handed metric capacitor? If it's flux you'll have to buy a new fan.

Most likely not the capacitor if it was working before the switch change.

Either wired wrong, or wrong switch if I had to guess.

The numbers next to the omega symbol. You get the same Mf rating and the same number of connections and you are good to go.

don't ground that cap on your hand, ect.

I've had hell with my Hunter remote controlled fan, replaced the switch, shortly after replacement I now only have reverse and occasional fwd speeds, shuts off when it wants to, etc. #POS but it is 15 yrs old.
