I'm all about moving rather than sitting but I'm not driving 30-40 mins out of the way to avoid the 15 mins it would take to get from LA1 to the Nicholson exit.

Depends on where you are coming from and the time. If you are coming north on LA-1 trying to cross the intracoastal at the wrong time, 15 minutes is a pipe dream. Usually not as bad coming from Port Allen though.

so am I but when I do choose the old bridge I will call my friends that took the new bridge and they are still ahead of me so I have learned just to wait it out

Exactly. Also, they're still painting the old bridge so traffic is pretty bad in the afternoons there as well

yes I have taken the northern loop and been screwed over by the work on the old bridge.
2 things I am certain of though are the OP has plenty of time to get to work from bluebonnet with 7am traffic and he will grow to hate the new bridge with a passion
