The optics looks bad. The optics probably came about because someone wanted to make sure they used a diverse cast in order to avoid bad optics. Kind of ironic. And it points out a real problem with the modern thinking regarding racism and diversity. That is that the appearance of racism (usually incidental) seems to be more of an issue than actual racism.
