Yes I’m from South La, and moved to Houston for work in 2005. The wife and I went to NOLA nearly every year pre-COVID and Latoya will not go back unless something changes!

I was born and raised in Louisiana, but I did not actually live in New Orleans. My wife and I loved taking trips to New Orleans for the festivals and Saints football. But unless New Orleans drastically changes we will not be going back. I was working in New Orleans when Katrina hit while living in Metairie.

I had the last trip in 2014, funeral of a friend's son. He was 22.

The next time NO floods, just let it rot.

Going to the LSU game. Driving in Sunday afternoon to my hotel, walking to Luke for an early dinner, then to the Dome. Walking back to my hotel and driving home in the morning. No desire to do anything that will leave me vulnerable to be a victim.

Drive straight down Poydras to the river. There's a casino, tons of shopping, great food and drinks, Jackson Square, Cafe du Monde, the French Market. That's where any self-respecting tourist would hang out.

The last time I was at Jackson Square was decades ago. I got approached, and asked, several times, about "where I got my shoes at". Bums laying around, passed out on the steps across from St. Louis Cathedral. Tell me, has it gotten better, or worse in the last 20 years?

I disagree with this. Nola did very well during the 2008-2014 time frame. Lots of hipsters moved in and Nola was almost in the same sentence as Austin and Nashville. The FQ was cleaned up and crime was managed.

The end years of Mitch and all of Teedy’s tenure saw the collapse.

There are still some good things going on there, but I don’t consider any of them worth dying for.

Have you already stopped visiting NOLA due to the crime, decay and general feel and politics of the city?
I'll be downtown Nola tomorrow if anybody wants to hang.

Going to the LSU game and coming right back. Born in NOLA, and I don't have the same love for it anymore. It's a cesspool of crooks and an idiotic tier of rich folks who live in a fantasy world of social clubs and Mardi Gras balls while the city they claim to love slips further into regression.

The majority of violent crimes that are being committed in NOLA these day are being committed by kids that werent even born when Katrina happened.

Why would anyone who is not a criminal, want to visit a place where the mayor comes to court and sits with, and consoles the perpetrator, of multiple heinous acts?

You want me to explain to you why NOLA's restaurant scene is better than Nashville and Austin??
