Technically they shouldn't, but I am following you.

//think you are pretty spot on but most employers can't get arrest records without pulling some sneaky behind the scenes shiz. //
Well, there are DOT requirements involved with this job, so maybe the feds have access to information that they give to the company in these situations.
And it's also possible that the insurance companies have this in their databases. You gotta figure he had car insurance with his DUI listed before he got it expunged.

Maybe so. If I had to guess though, somebody got their hands on an arrest record.

Yep. Spent the night in the Tijuana jail back in 1968. Think dungeon...wet, slimy, filthy, dark and wet.

Does the drunk tank count?
Spent 6 hours in there when I was in my hometown over summer break one time in college.
Was responsible and spent the night on a buddy's couch after partying all night. Got up and drove the next morning without brushing my teeth. Stopped being responsible and started texting my girlfriend at the time while driving home. Ran off the road and flipped my truck. Luckily I was basically unharmed minus a couple small scratches. Passed all field sobriety tests when the cops came to check out the wreck but refused a blood test. Got real smart with the cop about it, "Why the hell would I take a blood test if I've already proven to you I'm not drunk?" He arrested me for implied consent. I didn't comprehend that or I would have taken the damn blood test and been done with it.
Spending the morning in a drunk tank by yourself on a Thursday morning and afternoon in a town of 10,000 people is very boring and isolating.
The cop ended up dropping all charges after about 6 months after my lawyer kept filing continuances on court dates and I stayed out of trouble during that time.
I know, CSB.

god lord, you flipped your truck and they made you do a sobriety test? I guess they can't make you go to the hospital as a precaution all the while getting your blood drawn?

does drunk tank mean automatic public intox charges or something similar?
I believe that Barney Fife gave me the wrong idea of it being a "let's let him sleep it off" approach.

Yes, sort of....
I was ferrying a A-7 cross country and overnighted at an NAS. Went to the O Club for dinner/drink and had a typical "inter service" comparative conversation with two Airedales. The conversation concluded with my observation that given the Navy launches their aircraft with a slingshot and catches them with a wire when the aircraft returns, that a trained orangutan could ride in the aircraft and just push the launch button to deploy weapons"...
The first Airedale replied by throwing a punch that I saw coming, so I ducked and retorted with a right uppercut square on the chin. The second Airedale tackled me and the three of us were then on the floor elbowing and punching each other. Bartender called the Shore Patrol and the cooks came out and separated us until the SP's arrived along with the Airedale's CO.
I slept in the brig instead of the BOQ and at 06:00 the CO and the Airedales were in the Lobby Area when I came down to leave. He informed me that I had one hour to pack, fuel, preflight, and get the hell off his station and if I was still in his "airspace" when that hour was up, he would launch the Airedales to pursue me as a unidentified and hostile target. I was packed, Flight Plan filed, Preflighted, Fueled, and Cleared to depart, and "gear up" within 40 minutes and well out of his airspace when the hour expired.

Lived in Ogden, UT for four months in the early '80s. Does that count? It surely felt like jail. If not, then no, no jail time.

Never been to jail, prison, booking, or drunk tank but my best friend is about to get 40 years. I talk to him a lot and I will make sure never to get locked up.

WTF, we are allowed to use our military resources for personal grudges?
You should have flown right off of the airspace for a while

ETA: I am adding Brig to the subject for hopefully more good stories

Jail once for 2 hours. Jambalaya Fest got a little wild, I drank waaaay too much and tried to walk to my hotel. Charged with disturbing the peace but 200 bucks later it's off my record.

Passenger of my car thought it would be funny to throw a fire extinguisher out of my car while I was the designated driver.
Arrested, sat for eight hours, could have gotten us out at any moment by calling the sheriff...did not. Sat there and watched them suffer until people realized I was gone and made the call.
My record was expunged immediately.
Never again do I DD for anyone. I'll take keys and leave the person.
What was the charge?
