Isn't that photo from two yrs ago?
Judging by her IG page. She's not as big anymore. I also think she gets a lot of public attention because she was the first plus-size girl in SI magazine. Nevertheless, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. But she's certainly not for everyone (Which you could pretty much say that about anyone).

They certainly took some liberties with a few of these. IRL soccer player is a dude. Doll version is a babe.

So while these are interesting and adult Barbie collectors will jump all over these, the little girls of the world will still be flocking to buy regular old pink Barbie.
Kids are a bit more smarter nowadays than in the past. Mattel is just zeroing in on the fact that some girls probably know who some of these public figures are and would like that type of adult. Not to mention, some adults might buy these items as well (Look at how the American girl doll company took off).
