So I’ve had a plantar wart on the ball of my left foot for about 6 years now. Doesn’t hurt unless I step right on it with a rock or something then it hurts like hell.
How screwed am I when I finally go to the doc to get it out?

Not that screwed mine was probably about that old too whenever I treated it. I had the same deal it didn't bother me unless I stepped on a rock in the exact spot. The only reason I even treated mine because a second popped up.

I had one several years ago but had no idea what it was. Felt like a sliver of glass or a splinter in my foot.
Dermatologist took one look, said plantar wart, and used the nitrogen on it. I may have had another blast of nitrogen at the followup visit but can't recall.
It was pretty deep, but he got it. Was sore as hell for a couple days.

Seriously the easiest and cheapest way to get rid of a wart is to put some freshly cut garlic on it. Had a 'bump' on my thumb for a long time, thought it was some bug bite but after a while I finally figured out it was a wart. So I cut up a whole garlic into thin cross sections and then put one of these slices onto the wart and let the juices rub up on it. I did this probably mostly at night but after a few days that sucka was gone. It was there probably several months before I did this. At worst, after a week of trying, you can go spend on money on something else.

When I was a kid I had several in between my toes. The nitrogen treatments didn’t work at all, came back after each round of treatment.
They finally numbed the area, burned them and cut them out. Haven’t returned since. It wasn’t painful from what I recall due to the numbing agent, healed fairly quickly.

THIS. Had one on the ball of my foot several years ago. Tried that vinegar method, duct tape, etc. No go. Went to podiatrist, he shot foot with local anaesthetic (that hurt worse than anything later) and cut it all out.
For all you baws talking about how you treated your hand or whatever, a plantar wart is a different animal altogether. You can't even see it like a blister or growth; it's mostly IN your foot, not on it.
