Hashtagging your child's name on social media- ok or not?

Now that more people my age are having kids, I've noticed a trend on social media where people will post a pic or status about their child and then use a hashtag with the kid's first & middle name.
For example: Somebody loves mashed peas! #ashleymarie
or
Happy Fathers Day to the best husband! #elizabethann and I love you!
What's the point of this? It seems stupid and pointless (not to mention hashtags are searchable so you're opening up an opportunity to allow people to find your child that much easier).
Any OT parents on here brave enough to admit they do this and have good reason as to why?

You just described every single aspect of both Facebook and Twitter

It's not a hashtag.
It's a fricking pound sign.

These days, I wouldn't be surprised if their actual names included hashtags.

You seriously asking for the point of hashtags 95% of which are pointless?

Immediately smashing that unfollow button if someone posts this

There is a girl I'm friends with that does this for both of her children. It's pretty awful.

It's stupid as hell. I'm facebook friends with someone who has a cutesy nickname for their kid and they hashtag it on every photo. It's annoying. Parents need to learn that no one outside the immediate family gives a shite about their dumb kids.

Anyone who hashtags things needs to be slapped.

I know two girls that have both created Instagram accounts for their babies. So they have an account for themselves and for their babies, and they log in and post from their babies' accounts as if the baby is posting. They are bat shite crazy attention seeking women

In the case for the parents of Mike Brown or Treyvon it's okay. #justiceformikebrown

It sure does seem to upset you even though you claim not to give a shite.
We have a 2 yo and have never done anything like that. A friend of my wife's does though. She uses a hashtag for pics of her new daughter. Can't say I've ever given it a second thought.

I created instagram accounts for both of my children that I post pictures and videos of them on. I don't hashtag their names but I will use hashtags like OOD (outfit of the day) or #tagsforlikes (to get more likes and followers)
