since 1955 when the cure for polio was announced? That was world headlines at the time. Since then we haven't seen a headline like:
CURE FOR CANCER (leukemia, etc.)
CURE FOR ALZHEIMERS
CURE FOR DIABETES
CURE FOR MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY
CURE FOR HIV
CURE FOR MACULAR DEGENERATION
Hell let's throw in CURE FOR BALDNESS while we're at it.
One guy, Jonas Salk, with help cures a major disease and nothing major since. Only advancements. Nothing concrete. With all the research and billions spent this doesn't seem to add up somehow.

There have been a whole hell of a lot.

But isn't turning a guy into an ugly chick considered a SIGNIFICANT medical breakthrough?

we could cure a lot but like HIV/AIDS they have long term solutions that keep it dormant. Which also means people have to keep paying for the solution.
Cures dont make money. Making people dependent on medicine to stay alive (a la Insulin) does.

Development of the MRI, Cat scan, etc.
Organ transplants
Laproscopy
Interferon treatments for chronic viral infections
And Polio wasn't cured. A vaccine was developed to prevent it.

Anything that would make headlines? If they found a cure today for ALZHEIMERS that would be world headlines and the lead on network news. Nothing has made as big a splash since the polio announcement.

Ebola was supposed wipe out the world. We shot that down after a coupe of months (for the most part)

They have prosthetic limbs that can be controlled by the mind now and this guy thinks there haven't been any medical breakthroughs.
They have pills that give you instant boners.
They can genetically modify zygotes to not have birth defects.
Either the OP is trolling or he doesn't pay attention.

Too much money in diseases for there to be a cure.
Yeah, I'm cynical. But the average cancer patient is worth $400,000. Cancer foundations raise millions and millions of dollars, with very little actually going to research. A cure for cancer today would end the gravy train for a lot of folks.

There's no incentive to cure that shite. It's too lucrative to just treat it.

Come on, preventing any disease no matter how it's done is a cure.
