two HS buddies went to Europe and stayed there, one in Spain with a Spanish wife and one in Austria with a German wife
several guys I know worked O&G overseas, met local women and married them, then moved them here later. Lots of Vietnamese with oilfield baw husbands, typically ten+ year age gap. You see them all over Houston.
The difference is the man lived there, met her there, married her there and lived there together for a while. So when they moved to America he understood his wife’s culture, fit into her family and ended any conflicts or culture shock. Now the younger wife is tending to her older husband, as she should. That white luxury SUV she drives comes with an old husband sunk cost
Another buddy lived in KSA in a compound. Met a pretty single Irish Engineer on a project hitch while in Moscow, they fell in love, got married and all was good. She moved to Dammam and verything seemed fine. Until he found out she was banging a USAF Airman when he was gone and almost got all three of them arrested. That is a big no no in Saudi Arabia
