Yeah, it kinda is.

Some of the stuff I just read doesn't convince me, and some appears to be speculative. Basically, you're just using it to say 'older people aren't as smart as I am' so you can blow off their opinions.

no, it's not. it's a scientific fact. it's the entire basis of the flynn effect
people get smarter. old people's brains cannot comprehend the development due to their inferior intelligence. they then protect this inability to comprehend with confirmation bias and subjective evaluation of the less-advanced past they observed
see? not a personal attack. all i did was insert you into that truthful paradigm

older generations are not as smart as my generation. look at the evidence of the flynn effect
this isn't a specific comment about SFP. it's a generational comment

So you're going to tell someone within punching range that his opinion is worthless?

do it all the time in these discussions, and i explain why it's true. people outside of the lower class mentality are almost always pussies, and if they're having this discussion, they're almost assuredly not of that temperament. they don't hit people for these things. now some piece of cultural trash in the lower class mentality? sure they may use physical violence (as it is a major attribute of their trash culture). but why would i ever have this discussion with one of them? they're not going to understand it regardless

So ability to innovate greatly decreases after age 50 due to our brain's inability to keep and and change with advancements in societal development?

Smart people have never hit anyone.
Rich people have never hit anyone.
Rich people have never hit anyone.

for the record, only conservative dadcore douchebags really believe this. we're connected globally in a way people in the 20th century could have barely dreamed about.

i'd imagine there is a reason why silicon valley is built on the backs of 20-30 year olds in a never-ending cycle of innovation replacement
there is not a specific age, either. generations get smarter with each successive generation. this is almost assuredly due to exposure to information in life and training our brain to interpret this information. then we create advancements that provide more information...which makes the next generation more advanced/intelligent. etc etc etc
that's why old people have trouble with new technology (especially if they have been out of the technological loop). other than the fact that they're 1-2 generations less intelligent than the one that created the new tech, their brain lacks the information processing building blocks

hell i was joking with some old e-friends (from a pre-facebook era/site) about how much more trouble everyone would have gotten in back then with 2 things that exist today: (1) proliferation of cell phones and more importantly, free long distance and (2) advanced video streaming tech like skype

Think that also has to do with energy, work/life balance, and risk aversion as age increases.
Tougher to make bold and risky moves, with high boom/bust potential with lots of innovation, when you have family and retirement in back of your mind. Variables to consider.

also let me add, this is a big reason why religion is in major decline during the internet age:
exposure to different people of different cultures, via the internet, along with the proliferation of information/science, has led to a drastic decline in religiousness during the internet era...across the globe

we're talking about more basic things, too, like using new tech. little risk in that

Add several decades of media brainwashing to that.
