Has spellcheck killed your spelling skills?

I find that in the days before spellcheck you had to take time to type or write the word carefully.

Nowadays I just keep typing something close until my word comes up in spellcheck... I'd suck big time if spellcheck wong away.

And yes thread title is a tongue twister. Repeat it aloud quickly

i had to turn off autocorrect on my work computer.

industry lingo gets changed to all sorts of crap.
and if your like me, type relatively fast and hit send...... well sometimes it ain’t good.

I try not to lean on autocorrect too too much, but sometimes it just makes life easier.

Yeah, in a way. I can still spell everything just fine but sometimes I have to stop and think about it or sound it out.

ETA: I may be talking about predictive text rather than spell check. Hell if anything, spell check should help your spelling by showing you the correct way to spell something you misspelled.

Not really as it has helped me recognize the most frequent spelling errors I was making.

no, but because i turned off autocorrect, i gotta catch these mistakes myself.

and i’m admittedly terrible at it.
because i see/read what i wanted to type rather than what i actually typed.
