Based on her appearance, she's been physically assaulted by someone.

I wasn't suggesting she lied; tough to fake bruises.

Just asked about women lying about it in general.

she challenged me at words w/ friends, told me they are broken up - I had no reason to assume otherwise - we chatted from there.

This is why he broke her phone. Watch your back and I mean that. He will probably come after you if she leaves.

LE needs to get involved ASAP

I deal with DV cases all the time and abusers VERY rarely let up, so her assumption that he'll "let her go" because she's got leverage over him is just going to make things worse for her

abusers are control freaks. the idea of someone having leverage over them will not calm them down, it will only enrage them. She puts herself in more danger by holding something over his head.

Additionally, if there are kids involved (hers and his) they will either become victims at some point or they will learn the behavior at some point, either way, its not good

Get LE involved asap, she needs to get a protective order asap, she needs to get out of there asap

otherwise it will only get worse for her and any children involved

Had a friend KILLED in August. It haunts me every day that I could not get her out of that situation.
