Never been, but watching Walter Mitty made me want to go visit Iceland and Greenland.

Decent. Lots of seafood of course, and lamb. Something called Skyr too, which is something in between soft cheese and yogurt.

Didn't know that. I had some in a small town here in AK, which has a lot of former Icelandic folks.

LMAO!
Iceland is NOT covered in Ice. It's very cold during winter but not at all during summer. Very beautiful and interesting country. Have been there twice and drove over much of it from top to bottom. Enjoyed it very much.

It's the only place on earth where you can literally have one foot on the North America continent and the other on the European continent. Very cool.

Many sights and interesting places to see.

They love their raised trucks in Iceland. That was weird to see in a "European" country.

Also, I tried whale when I was there. It's red meat but has a fishy aftertaste. It was weird, but good.

Thinking about going in March myself which is the end of the prime time to see the northern lights. All of my friends with money to travel are tied down though. May make it a solo trip.

I went for 2 weeks last summer. Took a road trip with 3 of my friends. I'll post some pics here in a second.

It's absolutely the most amazing place on Earth. Reykjavik is awesome, spent 3 nights there. It's very setup for tourists.

The real treat though, is just going into the country. They have the Golden Circle road which basically is a circle around the heart of the country. The main cities in the country (not many of them as Reykjavik holds like 2/3 of the population) is around the Golden Circle. My friends and I went around camping in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We wish we would have gotten a Hummer because there are many "roads" that have rivers going through them. Not super deep, but strong current and probably about 2-3 feet...too much for a Cherokee.

Pic 1: The Waterfall Godafoss...that's a pic that was in the OP

Pic 2: My friend laying above one of the falls of Dynjandi in the Western Fjords. Dynjandi has a main waterfall, then 7 other waterfalls below it

Pic 3: The greatness of Iceland. We were just driving, saw a cool little river so we stopped. Followed it up about a half a mile and saw a sweet 15 foot waterfall. Then another mile up was an awesome 25-30 foot waterfall we hiked to.

Pic 4: The main fall of Dynjandi is the top, smaller underneath

Pic 5: Harkarl. The rotten shark that you eat and chase with Brennivin. I wasn't touching that shite. My friend ate 2 pieces of the shark and didn't mind it, but they didn't have any Brennivin at the museum. So we eventually took shots of it in Reyk and it was awful.

Pic 6: The road to Seydisfojurd. It's in the extreme east, very out of the way. The Golden Circle turns south and we took a road (at about 11pm at night...this picture was at roughly 1am) and climbed high into a mountain and crossed an ice field. In the very very back you can see a town in the distance. That was out first shower we took in 7 days

Pic 7: Stokksness...It's on the south and it's awesome. The clouds are covering some amazing peaks.

Pic 8: I honestly forget the name, but it was like a 3 mile hike upward in a national park. Very crowded place but it was cool.

Pic 9: These purple flowers were EVERYWHERE in the south. Just miles and miles and miles. So we drove along a dirt road onto a black sand beach and did donuts. On the way out we stopped so I could frolic in the meadow

Pic 10: The town of Vik from above. It's amazing

Pic 11: This was some overlook somewhat near Vik:

Pic 12: Seljalandsfoss. It's cool because you can walk under it. My favorite Fall was Skogafoss because of its power, but you could walk right up to it

Pic 13: I have lots of pics of this, but we went snorkeling in between where the continents divide. That's actually a pic of the 2 continents

I kept hearing it was the worst thing ever so I was not trying it. Hilarious story actually. Everyone but me tried it, and the museum director is this like 30 year old Icelandic guy. Now mind you, we're the only ones in there and me and my friends are right around that age, so we were shooting the shite. They keep telling me to try it and I was adamant I would not...so the director called me a pussy and I got it on my go pro

That was one of the best moments of the trip.
