Has anyone here hiked the Clark Creek Primitive Trail?

I'm thinking about taking my boys camping next week and hiking some of this. I'm a moderate hiker and some sites list this as "strenuous." Can someone that has been here please elaborate?

Coahulla Creek Trail is incredible. Breathtaking scenery. Two or three waterfalls. The kids loved it, as did the wife. It wasn't too strenuous, but we took a break about a mile in to let the kiddies rest their legs. Make sure and pack insect repellant, for there are stagnant water pools for a few days after a rain.

I've done it, it takes like 2 hours. Not bad. You could also just do the regular trail and take it easy.

When u come down the big hill and hit the bottom, the creek is immediate to ur left, there's a bulkhead on the bend.
U can walk down it to the first waterfall, then down the creek again to the second waterfall. And down it again thru the big boulders to the next creek on the left. There the third waterfall is, about 200 yards in. Walking the creek keeps u from climbing hills.

If you stick to strictly the primitive trail and hike it as a loop, it can be challenging. Just make sure you have plenty of water and if gou take breaks as needed and just try to enjoy it then youll be fine. Heres an idea, get on the primitve trail and make it to the first waterfall (youll be above the waterfall). Youll know its the right one because youll have a steep climb downhill to get to it. If you dont think the trail was too challenging to that point then youll be fine because its about like that the rest of the way.

As long as you make sure that you don't go when it's wet or muddy you should be fine. It's a bitch climbing those hills if it's wet.

I second the recommendation to not do it when it is wet and muddy.
And yes, it's an hell of a workout, but completely worth it. You are going to want to have a reasonably sized camel pack with snacks/light meal.
At the end of it my SO and I were carrying each other up the last hill back to the car. The view from the vantage point up the hill near the enterance is also nice near sunset.

Cool place.
Stop at a Popeys and bring chicken & fixings for a picnic. A couple of large daquiris are good down there as well.
Just in case, keep a change of clothes in your car. You can get pretty muddy and wet.
After the hike, visit the Pond General store for root beers.

The primitive trail isn't bad. Sometimes it's hard to see the markers.

I have. The trail is hard to track sometimes especially near the rear of the park.
It's not long but takes a long time. Get there early.

When you think you have enough water. Bring more. It was fun in high school we'd go out there and smoke a shite ton of weed

It's a down, then up hike. You hike down to the creek bed and waterfalls. The hike back to your car is all uphill when you're the most tired. That last long Hill.......
