In addition, re:Xeloda, watch out for mouth sores or lip blisters. Discontinue use of any mouthwash. Your doctor may prescribe a specially formulated mouth rinse not availble OTC.
Xeloda is powerful, but be aware of side effects.
These notes are for the OP.

My mom had about the same course after a lumpectomy. She was mostly good through it. My aunt had similar treatments, but got nauseous a lot.
I was reading up on Wayman Tisdale yesterday because I have been enjoying some of his music lately. He died when his esophagus ruptured after radiation treatments for cancer in his leg.

Yes. Zofran will placate most nausea induced from localized radiation. I had to do TBI (total body irradiation) before my stem cell transplant and I was throwing up into bags for about 30 minutes afterwards. But if it’s just localized radiation you should be fine with some nausea meds.

Prostate cancer, after 39 days of radiation, my PSA # dropped from 11 to 0.1, a normal reading for the prostate. Zero symptoms beyond fatigue that carried over 3 mths post last treatment. However, another patient had nasal cancer & he said radiation was like sticking his head in a bar bq pit. But according to my radiologist's nurse, chemo treatment puts a patient at high risk for the virus as the immune system is "seriously damaged" . Best advice I continuously received was to stay positive, as a positive mind can & does make a difference.

5 Deep:
3 down, 25 to go.
Hope everything went well and there weren't any bad surprises. Like a long road trip, I tried to keep track of how far I'd gone and how much further I had to go. Anything is doable if you break it up into small enough chunks.
Take care and be well.

He was fun to watch as a basketball player, and a talented jazz musician. Sad how things turned out.

Yeah I knocked out 10 rounds of chemo already so I know radiation won’t be worse than that
I have always heard chemo is worse- but when my Dad had radiation, he did not have any side effects...
Best of luck to you in a full recovery...
