Why would you pay $5000 if there is nothing being sold. It sounds more like theft than a pyramid scheme.
Sounds like a bunch of dumbass women with too much time and money on their hands. I don't think it's theft if you willingly give your cash away. Unless they thought there would be some sort of payoff, it seems like they were paying dues to some sort of club where they meet up and talk shite.

Like I said, they paid $5k to get in, once you recruit your two people, you get your $5k back, then as your chain expands, you get a piece of it.
But like all pyramid schemes, eventually people at the bottom will get screwed because everyone who they could possibly recruit has either joined already or has no interest in doing so.
The people on top were turning $5k into $40k pretty quick.

Kinda like crypto. No intrinsic value.

There’s the legal/accounting term “gifting” that possibly has migrated into general over-use?
I don't see why law (and accounting, I guess?) have to play such havoc with the English language. Somebody should legislate a dictionary for those wackjobs (though I guess it would take a lot of the fun/money out of it).

It has value if people accept it. How is the dollar any different? Crypto is converted to dollars.
If someone is selling something you want to buy and they are only accepting payment in crypto how much are dollars worth in that moment? $0.
You can't compare a pyramid scheme to crypto.

The airplane scheme went through Lafayette in the mid 1980s when the oil bust hit devastated the local economy. A lot of people were doing it, it was crazy.

Lacrosse moms make soccer moms and travel ball moms look like the classiest women to ever watch sports. Southern travel ball has nothing on lacrosse psychos

In 1987, I went with a friend to a Northside residence for an "opportunity to make $12K". I couldn't believe people were, (and apparently still are) that fricking stupid.
Every time I ask my friend about the $1,500 he gave up, he still gets pissed at me!
