It is just like hurricane planning, when you have everything in place it is a nothing burger. But the minute you are least prepared, you are caught with your pants down. Mother Nature takes you from behind.

You can cut some cardboard boxes and cover all of your foundation vents. It can make a big difference to keep the wind out.

You can also run your dryer on occasion if the piping runs under the house to throw some additional warmth under the house

Bought groceries and adjusted the dog walk schedule to catch the warmest parts of the day.

Some people here are saying Houston could get six inches of snow, but that's just local weather hysteria as usual, because everyone knows that isn't going to happen.

It will be cold, we will survive.

I have done almost nothing special. Like you, I winterize everything that needs special treatment at toe beginning of winter. The only thing that I can think of that I need to do tomorrow, is to be sure that my tailgating battery is fully charged. I also might go by Lowe’s and see if they happen to have a spare spigot just in case one bursts.

Winterize the boat.

I had to do mine in a rush last year and that sucked.

Me, this will be a dusting at best. But if people want to prepare, that’s cool.

You'll be fine. It will all be melted by Wednesday anyway.

I have groceries
Any potentially exposed pipes are wrapped from the previous winters but my water well is in an area that gets some heat from the guest house
Faucet covers have been on since winter started
I have a generator because I live in Louisiana
And the biggest...it's only a few days of cold

The most prep I have done is run a cord to plug in my diesel because it doesn't fit in the garage

The worst case scenario is power goes out and I have to run the generator and a few heaters I keep in storage or that I will maybe have to use a torch to unfreeze the hose bibs despite them being covered but they will not freeze enough to burst and that is strictly precautionary on my part

Who doesn't have winter supplies (wrapped pipes, covers, etc) from the cold snaps we have gotten a few times since the 2021 freeze?

I had to go to Home Depot yesterday to grab a new drill and people were going nuts. You would think a new never ending ice age was coming. Why is everyone freaking out?

pretty much me. I mean i got people posting on facebook that even if you live in a house on a slab, you need to empty out your toilets and shite...its laughable.

i got a 60kw on the house, only thing i might have to deal with is an extra large gas bill

It will barely get above freezing on Wednesday. Not too much will melt. Probably Thursday.

I picked up the dog shite in my yard so if it snows the kids can play outside and not make shitty snowballs.
