Has anyone else done zero snow storm prep?

I have groceries
Any potentially exposed pipes are wrapped from the previous winters but my water well is in an area that gets some heat from the guest house
Faucet covers have been on since winter started
I have a generator because I live in Louisiana
And the biggest...it's only a few days of cold

The most prep I have done is run a cord to plug in my diesel because it doesn't fit in the garage

The worst case scenario is power goes out and I have to run the generator and a few heaters I keep in storage or that I will maybe have to use a torch to unfreeze the hose bibs despite them being covered but they will not freeze enough to burst and that is strictly precautionary on my part

Who doesn't have winter supplies (wrapped pipes, covers, etc) from the cold snaps we have gotten a few times since the 2021 freeze?

I had to go to Home Depot yesterday to grab a new drill and people were going nuts. You would think a new never ending ice age was coming. Why is everyone freaking out?

I brought 6 potted plants in the garage. That’s all I’m doing.

Wrapped the pipes and grabbed some beer. That's it.

I might drip the faucets tomorrow night. If my bushes die, they die

I don’t blame others for being prepared for the worst. To each their own. Same people that listen blindly to their family doctor. They’re just following the media narrative.

I’ve done nothing as a 1-2 day below freezing temps have never caused a massive breakdown. Live on a slab with no exposed pipes.

Working from home during this period will be the biggest inconvenience to both people and companies.

Because most people are never prepared. They’d rather panic at the last minute. A lot of us do winter prep early when its nice outside. Now we can hunker down and wait it out

Southerners are idiots and don't know how to slowly accelerate or drive slower because of the ice. There will be many massive accidents.

My house is 5 feet off of the ground. My crawl space is bricked, but I have decorative grates that allow the air in. We have been in the teens before, but not being on a slab does give me some concern.

Otherwise, generator is gassed up, the fridge is full, and my outside faucets are all covered.

I'm going to put some cloth over my landscaping with tomato cages and wrap the spigots but that's about it.

Impressive run-on Sentence/Paragraph.

I have to do freeze prep. Copper pipes. Don't give a shite about the snow. I have snow chains.

Brought the plants in barn, picked up dog poo, covered outside facets with covers, filled propane tanks and bought 2 more propane heaters. Got food Friday morning to cook all week. Doesn’t take long.

Same but I have a water well. It is in a room next door in the same building as my guest house so I usually crank the heater up in the guest house and enough air leaks through to keep that room above freezing but I wrapped the pipes a few years ago anyway.

During the cold snap last year I lost one shrub but it was already hanging on for life from the drought. Not too worried about landscaping. I can replace it.

I think the amount of prep depends on the individual situation. In my area the roads do not get treated or plowed. My driveway is a quarter mile long up a steep hill. I prep because I can potentially be snowed or iced in longer than others who live in cities/suburbs.

I put those styrofoam things on my facets and had some firewood delivered. Also bought some booze

Yep. That's why some folks prefer to just ride it out so they're stocking up on party supplies and snacks.

Stay warm folks!

We have some groceries already. Pipes outside stat wrapped all year round. I have some firewood if I need it and gas for my generator if we lose power. And we can always go to my parents’ house if we have to as they have a whole home generator. I think we’ll be fine.
