Is there anyone on the board who can say they have been either through or to every parish in Louisiana? I've been at least through every parish in South Louisiana, have only been in or through a few in North Louisiana.

Yes, in my lifetime. Although, most of it was just passing through and I never though "hey this is my first time in Washington Parish." etc. I applaud your desire to see our great State. There is a lot of local history tidbits that every Parish has that can be interesting, and even more hidden gems of restaurants.

And without exception, none want you to return

It's a shame you were just passing through and did not explore all that the great city of Bogalusa has to offer.

Is this your opinion or have you talked to people from the parishes I have been in and/or through?

Hard to explore when you're tearing up from the smell.

Can't say I know anything about Bogalusa except what people on here say and that Young Ready (Thug in Peace) was murdered there. So for that, I don't think I care to return and patronize anywhere in that city.

I played in a JV football game up there my freshman year of HS. I thought that I was going to pass out the entire game. The paper mill scent is ubiquitous.

Yep, at least twice

ETA: and to 45 of the 50 states.

It’s other countries and planets in the solar system where I need to do some work

It was a once proud, hard working, blue collar town that lived and breathed by the massive paper mill. Local mom and pop stores lined the streets and the town was bustling. As time passed, however, modern technological advances eradicated a significant number of jobs in the area. Now it is mostly ghetto.

Sounds like Bastrop. Although, I would imagine Bastrop would top Bogalusa judging by the general consensus on this board of the place.

TulaneLSU's top 10 best and Top 10 worst parishes would actually be an interesting read. Livingston's wild but now all that bad. I used to get out of class at LSU and be in my uncles deer stand in Denham within 30 minutes (if I timed traffic correctly). Something cool about that. But the last time I was in Denham Springs it seemed to be morphing into a little more suburbia like than it was.

Edit: @ Bdavey, yeh sadly that is the case with many small towns in La. My home Parish is still the same as it was when I left, like a time machine. But oil slowing down hasn't done it any favors, thank God we still got Timber keeping things afloat.

The parts of LP closest to BR are just middle class suburbia now for the most part. You can still get deep off the beaten path and into Deliverance country if you want to though. It's a big parish.

Oh I know lol, my mom's entire side of the family is from there. My pawpaw has some good stories about growing up in the Great Depression barefooted in Livingston parish and playing with the cows at recess at the school he went to. This particular deer stand I was referencing is like less than 5 minutes from Bass Pro lol, but I'd imagine you won't be able to hunt that area in another decade.

What Parish are you from?

ETA: Nvm. Overlooked the first part of your post.
