Has anybody had to deal with a legit hypochondriac?

I dated one for a couple of years. She is a veterinarian and really book smart but kind of ditsy other than that. She started working outside and getting really dizzy. I convinced her that she wasn't drinking enough water. She started drinking more water. It solved the dizzy problem and she ended up going to the doctor because she was pissing 3 more times than she normally did. I know, who the frick counts how many times they piss? When the doctors told her they didn't find anything wrong with her she thought that they were going to end up naming whatever new disease she had after her.
This sort of thing was constant. She was an insurance companies worst nightmare. She was at the doctor at least once a month but was never actually sick.
edit: if she was cooking a gumbo she would not cut an onion on the same cutting board she had cut the chicken on. The onion and the chicken would both be going in to the pot at the same time together but she never would see my point when I brought that up.

My SIL is always sick. Seriously, she totes around a bagful of antibiotics ALL the time. Never goes more than a couple of months without having "The flu".
In addition, she has to go to the chiro often for "adjustments".
ETA: Also mix in the fact she is a clean freak. Constantly wiping down stuff with anti-bacterial wipes, etc.
I think the 2 go hand in hand.

I really didn't have to deal with her much other than visit about once a week when a kid, but my grandmother on my father's side was a certified hypochondriac.
Even though she was ambulatory, she just laid in bed at least 20 hours a day, had a nightstand that looked like a mini pharmacy and was always complaining about how bad she felt. She was one of the most miserable people to be around with her constant griping about her "state of health", or lack thereof.
For at least 20 years I can remember her saying how she just knew she was dying from her imaginary illness, until one day she finally did die----------of old age and natural causes. What a wasted life she led.

My ex. Now she's making my son the same way. He missed 35 days of school last year, all excused of course. She thinks he's always sick and has him convinced he is. Pisses me off to no end.

The wife and I have a lady friend that is OCD and it can often be maddening to be around her for long periods of time. She constantly rearranges things, put stuff away, wipes down and cleans stuff like it's the most important thing to do.
One time for Thanksgiving I had a bunch of folks over and fried 3 turkeys and had a ton of other side dishes to go with the meal. I had carved all the turkeys and broke up all the carcasses and put them in a large pot on my stove to fill with water and make a stock when they left.
After most of the folks were heading home I went to fill the pot with water and some vegetables to make the stock and the pot was empty. She had seen the bones in the pot and emptied it into the trash and put it in the garbage can. Well, that killed that years fried turkey stock idea.

I hope to. I've known for a while - in my heart - I can make yogagirl happy and adjusted.

Lesson learned the hard way:
Went to the doctor and sat next to a woman who had a grocery bag full of pill bottles. Waiting room was full.
I made the mistake of saying, "hello, how are you?"
Ten minutes later I was on the verge of falling on the floor, acting like I was having a seizure, hoping that would get her to stop talking.
I decided I would go to the bathroom instead. I have never spoken to a patient in a waiting room since that experience.

Idk if she was actually telling the truth, but I dated a girl who always had something wrong with her, but it was legit at least according to the Dr. notes.
Was always at the doctor and constantly was on antibiotics/meds, etc.
I don’t think i’ve been to a doctor in like six years. Was odd to me.

Cutting board and knife for meat is appropriate
And that's not hypochondria.
Aside from your inside Pee story, no evidence of hypochondriac.

was odd as could be. she wouldn't eat a some asparagus I had grilled because they went outside to the grill in the same pan as the steaks. I used a second clean pan that nothing raw had touched to bring them out.

I've had some health scares in recent years. Naturally I take to Google to find out what's wrong which doesn't help matters.
I think though that once you go from perceiving yourself as 100% healthy, thinking you're young and invincible then having something medically go wrong with your body you start to pay a lot more attention to things that you never did before.
