This picture was taken during Allison which had 38 inches of rain.
Harvey could get 50 inches of rain

The main difference between the two storms is that Allison dumped all the rain continuously over the course of around 12 hours with no let up. It was surreal. So while Harvey may dump more rain in aggregate, it'll at the very least be spread out over the course of several days, if that's any consolation.

Well, no shite.
Wasn't saying it in the context of being an arse, just saying that it's likely not any consolation to anyone...as that's a ton of rain in a relatively short period of time.

I'm in the Galleria area and just took a quick drive. Not much street flooding in my immediate area.
for the owners of a local Chinese restaurant and those of another convenience store for being open.
How's your area?

Chinese restaurants are always open.

For any of you who were in Houston during Allison, how long did it take for the roads to be clear?

Seem to remember the highways were clear within a day or two. Memorial and Med Center took 3-5.
