There is alcohol in the casino. It is not free.

There are non-video card games. Blackjack, poker, etc.

The dealers are amateurs. I've never seen such disorganization at multiple blackjack tables before. Dealers that couldn't count, dealers allowing people to put new bets out prior to cards from the completed hand being picked up, dealers pushing the "hit" button on the video blackjack table, etc.

Also I have never been IDed more times in a casino that IDed is at the door. I'm 28 and was with two other guys who were 26+.

This was all a few weeks ago. I'll probably go back cause it's the closest casino to Atlanta by far, but it's horribly run.

I agree. It's a great beginner river and fun in the duckys. I just like sitting with some beers and watching the Yakkers do tricks. As I some of the coldest water I have ever experienced. And I've swam in Iceberg Lake in Glacier Nat Park.

You must have gone to the new one in Murphy, they were pretty clueless.

time of year. River rafting is great along the Nantahala. And just sitting at the NOC drinking beer all day is on my list of things to do again.

Oooh, didn't think about this. It will be mid-late April. I will be with the wife, so it wouldn't need to have anything beyond a class 3 anyway.

Dude, that's perfect rafting time. The Nanny would be perfect if you bring the Mrs. Definitely stay in Bryson City.

I've been to Cherokee twice now and the dealers weren't that bad imo, of course I only played BJ in the high limit room, so probably a different class of dealers.

I live in Hayesville. How can I help you? Don't stay in Blue Ridge. If it were me, I'd rent a Cabin on Lake Chatuge in either Hiawassee or Hayesville. NOC is a short drive away and if you're set on going to a casino, Harrah's in Murphy is brand new. They even have a Papa John's! Let me know if you decide to come this way and I'll get you free drinks at the casino.

I stayed there last fall for one night. Place is huge, not at all what I thought it would be. Rooms were clean, nothing spectacular. Slots are tight due to there is no competition anywhere around.

Don't valet, took 45 minutes to get my car.

If you're going to Verizon in Alpharetta, there's no reason to go all the way up to Cherokee, NC. The casino itself is ok but the surrounding area is a mix of depressing hill town/indian reservation and gorgeous wilderness via the Smokey Mountains.

But, again, stay in Helen or Dahlonega or somewhere up in North GA if your ultimate goal is to see a concert in Alpharetta

Helen the town is a shithole. Helen the surrounding mountains and camping/cabin options are pretty nice

There's a lot of nice places and things to do around Nantahala and Bryson city. I definitely recommend visiting. I wasn't a big fan of the casino in cherokee. Also it's the only casino I've been to that doesn't give free drinks to players.

It's either an Indian casino thing or a state law thing. I used to play poker at some casinos when I lived in Oklahoma and they didn't give free drinks either.
