Hard Rock has had just about enough of their name getting trashed

Hard Rock did not build or having anything to do with building the hotel. But that's not stopping the local activist idiots from boycotting Hard Rock the company.
I also understand the complexity of the situation, and I also understand that staffing and supplying whatever is needed for demolition could take time.
But 4 months and we are no closer to this?
I don't understand how the city - if not the mayor, then the council - isn't screaming and filing lawsuits and pushing to get this taken down immediately.
I was willing to give the city the benefit of the doubt for a long time. I still am to some extent, the city didn't cause the building to collapse. But the city damn sure needs to ramp up the pressure on these developers, or the city just needs to condemn the property and take it down.
I am aware the insurers will fight for years but they have had enough time to study and get evidence.

In a letter to the mayor, it says it is "puzzled and frustrated at the length of time it is taking to recover the remains of either of the victims and to finalize plans to demolish the building."
The company, which said it is not involved in the development of the hotel nor did it have anything to do with its construction, says it is "seeking all legal recourse due to the reputation damage" it has incurred as a result of the ongoing situation, specifically mentioning a "Boycott Hard Rock Movement" taking place in New Orleans.

They approved the permits and are required to continually inspect the progress.

The mayor is too busy trying to cover up her tax evasion to be bothered with such trivial issues.

I hope the hard rock sues Latoya Cantrell and the city of New Orleans into oblivion

Agreed.
That doesn't mean be out there 24/7 and take charge of the contractor and subs.

Yeah but the city isn't responsible for the actual structural engineering.

This really is an insurance defense attorney’s wet dream. Pay the dead people, fight the ancillary and questionably injured, fight coverage, fight indemnification, engineering failure, duty to remediate it, the list just goes on with things you can bill to fight about
There will be upwards of $10 million paid to the non-dead people’s attorneys on this one.

You ever been to a Hard Rock Cafe?
The food is Applebee's/Sysco microwaved crap and you get to look at Axl Rose's pants on the wall.
The deserve to be put out of business. Twin Peaks has better food and better stuff to look at srs.
Would rather see Latoya build a Twin Peaks Casino instead.

Not to state the obvious but you do realize LaToya isn’t paying out of her bank account? You are wishing this on the taxpayers of Orleans who have nothing to do with it. Stupid fricking idea.

Not a fan of their food.
I like their hotel in Biloxi.

Well maybe they should pony up some money or whatever is needed to get the building brought down, and the poor soul still entombed to be removed.
Why is this still going on and not been dealt with. It's nationally shameful.

This is a situation where I hope the suit is to force action, not to get money out of the city.
I don't think the Hard Rock needs money from the city. They need the damn hotel down so people will stop referring to it as the partially collapsed Hard Rock Hotel.

Because we have a combo of incompetent government and incompetent construction and shady developer.
This city doesn't like to force people to do things. See, all the gutted, vagrant houses still standing almost 15 years after Katrina.
I just keep thinking back to Aaron Broussard, that corrupt idiotic SOB, who as mayor Kenner told the Pan Am people to "get your goddamn plane out of my goddamn city" when they were dragging feet on recover after the 1982 plane crash.
He looked insane on tv, but it worked.
Sometimes, we need our public officials, when a private enterprise won't handle their business, to reach deep, find their nuts, and drop the hammer.

She still has more than half her term to serve. Let's hope this is long gone before election time.

So you want this monstrosity to still be standing in two years, just to score a political victory?
GTFO.
