Wow that article paints a disturbing picture of corruption.
I wonder how much the Wisner heirs, or other beneficiaries, paid Teedy to continue paying them.
That’s the only explanation.

Didn't look to see if anyone posted about it today, but a judge took a big step towards dissolving the trust and giving the city the money.
Also blocked Cantrell from taking any more money out.

But who gets the land and future royalties now?

Per the article I found, it goes into the city’s general fund which means the city council gets to allocate it.

So the heirs just lost 10k or so acres and royalties?
I tried to read the case about it in 2014 but lot of legal turns and I’m not a smart man

WWL article
Based on what I’m seeing, yes, the heirs lost out on a ton of money because the trust as it existed ended and the mayor illegally rolled it into a new trust which is perpetual rather than limited to 100 years.

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is one of the heirs.

I *think the heirs still get their take at present, but if the trusts ends everything goes to the City via the Council.
Also presently Cantrell is able to dole out the money via grants with no oversight, or rather that’s what she’s been doing, but I read a court decision posted earlier holding that she could not do so, that the Mayor had to seek approval from the Advisory Board.
So Cantrell and the heirs want the trust to exist in perpetuity, the city council wants it to end.
Now I have a headache.
