Actually had the discussion this week with my wife that if something happened to my job what we were gonna do and we both agreed it'd be a good opportunity to move out of state for a while.
have given this some not-so-serious thoughts, lately. even moving back to LA has crossed my pea brain but I just bought a house and the wife just told she's 2 weeks late...so what the hell man

I quit a job once cause I hated it so much, nothing lined up or even in the works.

All that spare time I knocked my wife up

I'll never understand the "energy crisis". Politicians preach about energy independence yet still buy foreign oil. It is so simple. The only reason there is a glut is because we're still buying foreign oil.
Maybe I'm an idiot, but I just don't get it.

I'm not going to call you an idiot, but you are pretty close on this subject.

I will say that she's already lining up the home projects while im on my arse.

so far its:

- painting
- epoxy on the garage floor
- finish all cabinet hardware installs
- replacing the half bath pedestal with a vanity

chances any of that gets done? less than zero.

I'm heading to Erath Saturday. I'll stop by on my way and let everyone in the Ville know you miss them so much you almost made a dumb decision.

Will this oil slump cause any noticeable slowdown in housing for areas like SA, Austin, or Dallas?

Tech based economy. It won't hurt Austin. Not sure about SA but it'll affect Dallas some but not nearly like it will Houston. Dallas is pretty diversified these days.

Let me play devils advocate, but don't you think many of these tech companies are servicing oil and gas in some way or the oil and gas companies?

It will have some effect because it's going to affect the whole state of Texas but my point was that Austin should smooth past this fairly well. They aren't as dependent on oil like other large Texas cities. Are there tech firms in Austin servicing oil and gas companies? No doubt, but they are a small part of a large pie I would think. Austin has been chugging along for years now even when the rest of the USA was slowing down.
