Yes or no question, to your original premise;

Ugh you mean YOUR original premise:

You can’t fire someone for taking their allotted time off.. off.

It doesn’t matter what it’s for, it’s their time. This is why I typically don’t even tell anyone why I’m taking off.

“I’m on PTO Friday” the reason why is no one’s business

But considering the OP doesn’t know the difference between advise and advice, I’m going to assume this is made up

Ok that's enough back and for now, but rest assured I'll be waiting for your link.

Save yourself some heartache and possible atty fees, give him the day he needs bc he clearly has a mental issue.

Hopefully he will burn up his time quickly, and doesn’t qualify for FMLA yet. Then you can get rid of him easier.

Even if he does qualify for FMLA, he'd have to get a doctor's excuse for the day off, basically saying Val Kilmer's death is too much for him to deal with, and he needed to stay home all day and cry about it...

Still up Googling Mingo? Man, you must be exhausted...

Well, I'll be waiting this morning. At least take a break and eat some breakfast and maybe get in a quick catnap. No rush

You must be European to use that spelling.

Well buddy, this is America.

We earn it so we get to burn it however we want.

Vacation or PTO; Val Kilmer was incredible; your employee is cooler than you are for taking a Val Kilmer day.

You should get a grip. Read the room more.

A PTO is a PTO. If he needs to stay home to apply vagisil, it is what we have become.

What grinds my gears is a company that is so involved with everything and bare bones that it is difficult to use PTO or vacation time and it hurts your productivity that you don’t want to use it or you can’t enjoy it because they are disrupting your time off.

Is it time to find a new place of work?

One good thing to come out of the Covid era was most companies stopped being total figs about PTO usage. The American work culture in the past was to make you feel bad about using PTO.
