And I don't necessarily agree that some don't want to learn.....the environment they grow up in, a lot of the time, sucks em in.

If there isn't a stable home life, it's statistically not very promising.

But is he a second class citizen?

What about General Powell? Condeleeza Rice? Cam Newton?

I'll just say this. Whether you believe something or not, you're right.

If you think you're a second class citizen... You are.

I'm amazed at the racism in this thread. It has nothing to do with black people, it's poor people. Poor people ruin areas. They're going to be uneducated, not have the funds to keep up their house, and when they come together it makes a shite hole that promotes violence.

Now how do we fix this problem?

Good point BUT... The demographics don't lie.

Starts with the top. When the leaders are blaming the whites or the rich, you can't take responsibility.

Fact: You're 100% responsible for your own life as an adult. If you're a failure, it's your fault. No one but your own.

Obviously you're not responsible for crimes committed against you like rape or getting t-boned by a drunk driver.

Other than that... You create the life you have.

Its a known fact. Guy was just saying the truth.

It is a fact that places with large black populations, there is generally more crime and low performing public schools. Of course there are exceptions but not for the most part. New Orleans East, North Baton Rouge, and North Lafayette are perfect examples of this.

Bingo

You don't like a situation you're in? Work harder to get away from it.

My ancestors were stolen property and because of that I was born and raised on stolen property, but that's neither here nor there.

The whole crux of the matter is that this country needs to address all our problems as a group of people not as a black or white thing. A liberal or conservative thing. There is only one race the human race. The minute people can accept this the closer we are to solving our issues.

I think this alone has been the biggest fall of young black men. I ain't no saint let's say flboo has spent the night in the pin. My observation: there are a lot of older white guys that are potheads and young black men without father's in jail. These young black guys worship drug dealers, gang dudes, etc. When you are not expected to live past your teens and you see a guy driving a nice car with twenty fo's and a whade of cash. No wonder they idolize them. Their are groups (mad dads)of black men such as pastors, black doctors, etc that try to reach at risk youth but of course this is not what the media shows. They focus on the white/black card at the turn of a dime there is a lot more money to be made there. Just sad.

Thomas Sowel has a recent response to this line of thinking:

quote:

The "legacy of slavery" argument is not just an excuse for inexcusable behavior in the ghettos. In a larger sense, it is an evasion of responsibility for the disastrous consequences of the prevailing social vision of our times, and the political policies based on that vision, over the past half century.

The very best line from that write up:

quote:

You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization -- including work, behavioral standards, personal responsibility and all the other basic things that the clever intelligentsia disdain -- without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large.

Super hard to do when the "leaders" pass buck and just ask for more money to fund their failures.

But you're right. It's not a black / white issue. It's a responsibility issue that lacks not only with the poor, but a good majority of people in the US.

I can't lose weight because my parents were fat.

I can't make money because the rich have all the money.

I can't....

The minute you say you can't, you're absolutely right. You can't. And until more people take responsibility for themselves, this problem won't go away.

Don't expect that to happen until people realize they are where they are because of their own decisions.

Don't think the white guilt liberals will allow that to happen. How else will they get funding for their "programs".

What's really sad is we have well to do patrons of the OT, even a cop, agreeing with these racial statements. A cop. But yet we are supposed to believe that he can go out and do his job fairly and treat people with equality when he's on here agreeing wholeheartedly with the hate filled statements of some racist in Buffalo, NY.

This is telling. The guy in the video and folks like him are pieces of shite. To blame anything purely on the color of ones skin equates to what the nazi's thought of the Jews. It's quite perplexing that folks are judged by others based on what they inherited and had no control of. It is a class issue, and when folks like the guy in the video realize that, then maybe we'll get somewhere.

It is not an excuse but my question is who put us in ghettos an environment that it is nearly impossible to escape?
