One thing you might want to check is if the other driver has the same insurance...granted it was a 2 vehicle crash.

Sometimes, if the same insurance company, they will low ball on both ends because they are having to pay twice.

He told them he wouldn't take the 14k. He still owes like 20k on the truck
Is there anything he can do besides contact the insurance commission?

I wouldn’t pay shite for that truck, other than any recycling fees.

Frick insurance companies. I begged them to total my vehicle after an accident. They just wouldn’t total my vehicle and I just found out they spent over $72,000 to repair a vehicle that had a pre accident value of $84,000. Thought that was illegal in Louisiana but them frickers did it anyway.

When I was a kid in a redneck town, there were two kinds of car insurance: liability only and "full coverage." FC just meant you had liability plus collision and comprehensive.

Our redneck poors usually had FC only if the car was financed, because the lender required it. It was still a bit of a bragging point to some. "My brother, Billy Wayne, started working a damned good job offshore and bought a new S-10 with full coverage!"

my wife used to be a Claims adjuster, and people would call in and report a claim, and if it was something their policy did not cover, they always threw back the "Full Coverage" claim.

the fact is, Full Coverage is a myth - yes you can have coverage for everything, but the cost of maintaining it was prohibitively high for the normal, Non OT folks. people just normally do not read their policies to see what is actually there - and then get pissed when they do not get their way
