I remember eating at the lunch counter at the Schweggman's on airline and Labarre as a little kid in the mid seventies!
My grandfather would take me a couple times a week in the summer.

organics often use pesticides...just "organic" ones
The breakdown of pyrethrins occurs incredibly quickly in mammals, and therefore poses zero threat.
Additionally, most multivitamins also contain more sulfur and copper than the amounts that are leeched onto organic produce.
If that's essentially the extent of organic "pesticides", then I'll take organic pesticides any day of the week over conventional produce that's laced with organophosphates.
Other, less prevalent organic pesticides may pose some small risk, but honestly, do some research on organophosphates. The deleterious effects of those chemicals on human health far exceed the comparatively trivial effects of the compounds used in organic farming.

Harris Teeter in Arlington (straight from work) or Manassas (on weekends).
About $160 once a week. I don't cook much, though. Wine expenses included (don't drink much wine either).
Single-ish--no kids.

fresh food
This. Plus you can get what you need and feel like eating everyday. Matherne's on Highland is on my way home from work and I usually stop there at least 6 days a week. The food purchases are usually around $20, but the total bill increases when I buy beer.
