No shite, I find the man very overrated. Good leader at times but far from our best. Also was a detriment more than once. Actually, shite, edited back in here that he's a flat out terrible suggestion for our best.

Also, the answer earlier of U. S. Grant also is overrated. All he did was what Lincoln asked and kept the pressure on the South. All he did was win a battle of attrition. He deserves credit for making tough decisions and pushing on/promoting Sherman along the way but ultimately the man only did what other Union commanders didn't have the stomach for.

You mean the man who seriously suggested dropping dozens of bombs on major Chinese cities?

The man who allowed the U.S. Army to dangerously advance through North Korea without setting up proper lines in their vain attempt to keep up with the Marines? Because of that, the Army almost got wiped out in certain areas during the Chinese attack because of that.

He was media whore and highly overrated as a commander.

Not taking anything away from him at all, he was a great combat leader. But the thing that separates Winters from hundreds, or maybe thousands of other guys, is that he had someone to write a book about him. And he would have told you that himself.

BoB was representative, not unique. Easy Company were a cut above the average line outfit, but there were other units as good or better.

Omar Nelson Bradley

I'm biased since my grandfather was his personal driver during the war. Also for Ike and Patton.

I respect Ike because he found a way to deal with both the British and American commanders like Monty and Patton.

Also, Monty is a twat.

Chesty Puller, USMC. Distant cousin of Patton.

Jimmy Doolittle. Only allied commander to bomb all three Axis capitols.

Battlefield Commander: Patton or Lee
Strategist: George Marshall or Nimitz
Organizer: William Creech or Marshall

Total package: Omar Bradley. He was not better than the above at those individual categories, but was good enough at all of them to be the best overall.

Puller not only could plan but was a hell of a leader in and out of combat. He had 5 navy crosses, and his men would do anything for him.( see: chosin reservoir).
