This is the OT bro...

You are putting words in my mouth, but yes if he didn't resist arrest or break the law then he wouldn't have been in this situation.
If you are saying that he isn't partially responsible for his death then you are being very naïve.

So, if you break the law or resist arrest then they can kill you? Is that the country you want to live in?
And what law did this guy break? The selling cigarettes law? Was he found guilty of breaking this law? Was the cop Judge Dredd?

I know, I know, keyboard bad asses
But the thought of sitting in a room with a cop and all of his cop brothers looking at you, knowing your name, and where you live... That's too much for me.

If you are saying that partial responsibility, no matter how partial is justification, we fricked.

I do not think any one is trying to argue that point. The point is this guy would have been out on $100 bail in about 2 hours in NYC. You just don't fight with the cops. You just don't do it.

You did change a previous quote of mine to something else.
His health condition contributed to his death. Not defending the actions of the officer. It looks like he broke NYPD policy by using a banned hold. Several martial arts instructors have stated that this wasn't a choke, but it certainly looks like one to me.

How much did MSNBC pay them to say that?

True

No, but the officers have the right to use force to put you in custody. This case would one for improper use of force which you can certainly make a strong case for.
IMHO they are basically using police officers as tax collectors in this case. Liberals made this law and now liberals are complaining about the law that is being enforced.

Well if the guy KNEW WHAT to do, and he most assuredly DID, then would he have been choked? Would the officer have been forced into alternative means of submission?
I am not at all claiming for him to be a great person that shouldn't have been arrested or anything. This is about the cop and his actions though. Had he followed protocol and Garner died then this would just be an unfortunate incident in my mind, but he didn't follow protocol.

Hard to argue with this

If they killed someone? I'd do my job and indict them. Are you saying the cop that killed the kid in Cleveland should get a pass? If I were on THAT grand jury, I wouldn't blink before I said yes to an indictment.

yeah the grand jury could have come back with a charge for that. but the prosecutor is the one calling the shots. So, frick that guy

Not to mention there has been a rather large and well documented problem with NYPD officers using chokeholds or whatever you want to call them.. over 300 complaints in recent years about that. This is NOT the first headlock/chokehold related death caused by an NYPD officer... Google Anthony Baez

This by no means represents NYPD, but about 8 years ago I was out with my cousin in the Jersey area and a friend of a friend with them was a part of NYPD. He was hammered and when I asked him about driving home he said he wasn't worried about it. "He is a cop so he can pretty much get away with whatever he wants." I can't help but wonder if he was just a bad egg or a representation of the culture.

I think the cop culture is pretty bad out there, especially in Staten Island and Long Island.

It does appear that way. However they have a large number of cops and percentages say that they would be more likely to have bad cops since they have more cops. We are obviously going to hear on the news about the bad ones.
