Grand Isle wouldn't be very interesting to visit unless you like to fish. There's really not much else to do there but drink and fish/crab. If you enjoy that it can be a blast.

I love those things and thus would not hesitate to stay in grand isle. However those things often require connections to be truly enjoyable and I don’t think I’d put it in my top 50 of the world list

The author definitely would’ve got his arse kicked at the bar for being an out of towner

There’s more to do on Grand Isle than there is to do anywhere else on the coast of Louisiana.
Grand Isle..saltwater fish, eat out at restaurants, fresh shrimp at your disposal, fresh crab, nightlife, riding gulf carts up and down the beach, boating/booze cruising/ tubing....all on a island.
Where else on the Coast of Louisiana can do all of that in the same place?

Are you legally allowed within 100 yards of elementary schools?

Not as good as Venice for sure. I spent tons of time in Grand Isle growing up. My nextdoor neighbor had a 28' Wellcraft and about a 3k sq ft camp and the keys to the boat. We had an absolute blast in that place. I still wouldn't rank it top 50 in the world

I was just saying there’s more to do than just fish
Venice and Cocodrie have got to be the most depressing destinations in Louisiana if you’re not a fisherman

Well, this moron has obviously never been to Grand Isle. I'll run the frick amok with you there otherwise. I'll pound natties and do that place right

You think the fishing is better in GI over Venice? Maybe roadside or off the bridge

Apples to oranges. Grand isle is completely different than Venice.

Depends on what you’re fishing for. But yes, I do. Venice is a world famous destination for offshore Bluewater water fishing. There’s no doubt about it.
Grand Isle gives your more options.
That wasn’t my point

Exactly
Two totally different places from top to bottom

Donald Trump is right. The failing NYT is fake news.

We'd light into the specs and white trout less than a mile offshore. Honestly, where the pass runs into the gulf was our go to. Love hanging out and fishing in GI. I have a lot of good memories there

I think he misspelled silty beaches.

Grand Isle..more beautiful and a hotter destination than Paris or the Swiss Alps. Who knew?

That's Queenstown, not Christchurch.
