Which performances did you find inappropriate for National TV?

None.

You are pitiful.

Did not watch but heard someone named Chimpino Gambino sang last night and with a name like that you have to have talent.

on what basis do you find him talented?

Just trying to understand...

I guess I am too white to understand

I am not a huge fan of his, but he's undeniably a good songwriter. He lacks stage presence, especially in venue that big, but he's good with a pen and paper and in a studio.

To answer your question: both Lady Gaga and Pink are very talented and showed it off quite well last night. Obviously, Bruno Mars is exceptional, though Cardi B was so bad it nearly ruined his performance.

Also, Donald Glover/Childish Gambino is a very talented person in a wide array of pursuits.

Childish Gambino (stage name of actor/comedian Donald Glover) won a Grammy last night for his song "Redbone". Last year he released the best album to frick to since Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot.

I don't really think it's a white thing tbh.

But to answer your question, his storytelling. He can say in 2 verses what it takes others to say in 16 songs. There are few rappers who dare dream to write the way he does or plan out his music the way he does. Like I mentioned before, he's a true music artist. His album Good Kid Maad City is a perfect example. Every song on there if listened to out of context makes zero sense. Combine the whole album and you get a story about everyday life growing up in Compton.

Does the same in To Pimp a Butterfly. A lot of people try to give him shite for being political but I think that's not really the case. He calls out blacks for black on black crime, he's honest about situations and speaks good truth most of the time. I respect him for actually trying to make a difference in people's lives unlike other dumbass rappers and self centered "artists" out there.

Fame doesn't always equal talent. A lot of extremely talented people never get the lucky break or meet the right person so they never leave the bar in their hometown they play every Friday.

I know we have a lot of guys posting here who play shows on the weekends. A lot of talented people on this site.

There was some really incredible talent last night.

Elton John, Sting, Sam Smith, Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino, Ben Platt, Gary Clark Jr, Jon Batiste, Patti Lupone, Sting, Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Stapleton, etc.

Those people are all world class talents in their respective genres.

ETA:

I would say the only guy up there that was a complete waste of space was DJ Khalid. Guy is just an obnoxious promoter.

At some point, people need to realize that halftime shows aren't made to draw in your average football fan. Similar to when people weren't happy with Gaga playing the SB last year.

Meh. Compared to who? Jay-Z and Kanye? Sure.

Compared to Bruno Mars? Not even in the same conversation.

I though the Grammy's were about awarding talent?

While it does border on "in my day" syndrome, technology has rendered "talent" largely meaningless. And, yes, all the old geezer acts that actually have/had verifiable musical ability are rolling around the country with autotune and backing tapes in tow, but at least these guys actually created, recorded and performed music back in the days where recording artists had this thing called "talent" - but now it is largely name recognition, image, etc.

And the Grammys have always been some of the worst sorts of SJW awards (along with the Oscars) - the Emmys, for all the crap television got for decades about being a lesser, crasser form of entertainment (relative to the Academy or TONY folks) were able to be a meritocracy for much longer and for a much wider range of awards. Just, IMHO.

Are you really saying Bruno Mars is more talented than Jay-Z and Kanye (Especially old Kanye)?
