We hitched a ride with the Navy from Okinawa to Korea back in 2010. There was a Navy Chief assigned to be in charge of us named "Chief Tran". Well..... It just so happened that Chief Tran was Filipino and had a tendency to pronounce his "R"s as "W"s
First night on the vessel we had to muster in cammies. Most of us show up in black shorts a skivvy and flip-flops. He starts laying into us about how he's not going to take any of our shite and that it's his boat and we better obey him at all times. He then introduces himself as "Chief Twan" (Tran) and we all burst out laughing our asses off. Could you imagine the amount of shite an entire company of Marines gave that guy? It was terrible. We would salute him, stand at attention when he walked by, scream "Aye Aye Chief Twan" every time he told us to do some menial task.
He'd say "Okay Wecon Mawines, I expect you to conduct youselves in Mawine Corps fashion at all times"
Anyway, it got so bad that he had to gather up all the Staff NCOs and Officers and basically get them to tell us to lay off. We did but we still frick with each other about Chief Twan to this day.

Not sure where you got your numbers. They are fairly similar.
I can see what you're saying, but there are much much much more black people in the Army than Marines.
The Marine Corps is only about 200k strong, so 11% AA in the Marines is about about 22k black Marines.
The Army has about 1.5 million people, so 21% is still about 300k black people.
So basically, the Army has more black people than the entire Marine Corps has people.
Just one of the observations I made working with different Army units and spending time on TQ... For some reason, I found hispanics were much more prevalent in the USMC fwiw

Oh, I’d see civilians if I got got to go into town. But most of my time there was spent stationed at Fulda with the 11th ACR. Seems like the only time we came out of the field was to get ready to go to Graf for gunnery.

You're lucky Chief Twan didn't bring down the wrath of the Pilla-pino mafia on you.
