Hmm.. let me think about this for a minute Christie. Who do you think processes the funding of sold leave, during a time where your family might not get paid due to a government shutdown?

Never saw dependents much at all in Germany. But when I came back stateside to take an instructor slot at the Armor School it was a lot more common to see dependents. After a while you could tell what rank their husbands was by the way they acted.

I hated these things with a passion when I was at Fort Polk. They would do these unit events with families and require us single soldiers to participate. Even worse was that my company CO was the epitome of a dependa.
It was such a refreshing breath of fresh air when I went to Korea. First unit event I went to was basically a barracks party and 1SG is doing keg stands. Not a single dependa in sight.
