People are telling me I still have to wear a mask after the second dose in a few weeks.

Honest question : Why?

Update : I’m experiencing covid symptoms similar to when I had Covid. The headache is worse today, my body aches are worse today. Overall I feel better than when I had Covid. Anyway, I figured I would pass it along for those planning to get the vaccine. I’m still alive and nothing has grown or fell off.

I don’t know who “they” are, but the medical director for the city said 7 days.
I don’t watch the news, or read into the media, that’s why I’m here.
Just curious as to what everyone was hearing.

I'm guessing that you can still spread it but your body has the antibodies to fight off the virus.

Well apparently, they're worried that you could still get infected but be an asymptomatic spreader.

So they just aren't sure at this time if it's total protection instead of symptom protection (i.e. protected from getting very sick or having symptoms).

I guess we'll see. Once enough people get vaccinated, it shouldn't be a problem because MOST people will be protected. But until then

Vaccines don't necessarily prevent you from getting a virus.

The thought process is that you could be carrying the virus and transmit it despite being vaccinated.

Does that jive with what we know about asymptomatic people not transmitting or how much viral load is needed to transmit? Meh.

Same as you having your cellphone in your pocket.

I notice every other Friday the government knows my whereabouts anyway.

No problem. After so much time reading, worrying, and then experiencing Covid, I might as well keep being helpful.

Thank you for doing your part but you STILL you need to stay home, wear a mask, AND social distance! Now that we know the virus has mutated it’s even MORE dangerous than before! Masking and social distancing may have to be lifetime mandates!

Did you make sure to change all our social media profile pics to you getting the shot?

Because if you didn't, then there's really no reason to get the shot.
